The perfect thing for SuperBowl Eve…

We watched Remember the Titans this evening. I hadn’t seen it in a really long time. It is seriously a great film. And it got all of us in the mood for the Super Bowl.

Sometimes it amazes me that football can be such an inspiring context for a story. Nothing like big guys running really fast into one another to make you feel good. Seriously? It’s weird….and yet so true. Of course, the characters and story help too. That movie makes me smile, not just at the funny moments, which is more of a superficial smile. But it makes me smile on a deeper level, to see young people truly face really hard situations with courage – when no one is rooting for them. When they aren’t even sure they know what they are doing. It makes me smile one of those really deep smiles, the ones that start in your chest and work up to your face.
